Nature’s Art

Discover an interactive science, nature and shopping adventure at Nature’s Art – aka “The Dinosaur Place”, located in Southeastern CT.

The indoor Activity Center houses a number of educational attractions that transform guests into geology enthusiasts. Children of all ages are thrilled to dig for gems and crystals in Jackpot Mine, pan for “gold” in Thunder Creek and excavate a dinosaur skeleton in The Bone Zone. Adults and kids alike are fascinated by geodes – those mysterious volcanic rock formations that are millions of years old. Choose one for us to cut open and be the first to see inside of this ancient gas bubble!

In the Fossil Gallery explore 600 million years of earth’s history through an array of marine and terrestrial fossils from around the world. Discover fun facts about fossils such as petrified wood and coprolite (fossilized dung!)

The Gift Shop is a wonder in itself with stunning crystal and mineral specimens, fine jewelry, Fenton glassware, collectibles, gourmet food, educational toys and much more. Remember to treat yourself to a tasty lunch or snack from Cobalt Café.

Dinosaur Crossing

Encounter over 25 life-sized dinosaurs set amid 1½ miles of easy walking trails in Dinosaur Crossing at “The Dinosaur Place”, located in Montville, Connecticut.

Bring your family for a day of educational fun with prehistoric outdoor exploration and discovery on 50 acres of pristine woodlands. See and learn about incredible creatures from the Mesozoic Era (225-66 million years ago) and more! Enjoy popular favorites such as Stegosaurus and Velociraptor as well as bizarre newcomers like Suchomimus and Therizinosaurus.

Catch a glimpse of abundant wildlife in the 7-acre Raptor Bay and feel the vibrations of a rumbling volcano. Visit the “What am I?” touch and learn stations located throughout the trails and spend some time romping in Monty’s Playground. Unwind in the scenic picnic area with a delicious ice cream from our full-service shop.
